Went here a few times. Very Americanized mexican food. A little pricey for mexican dishes. Their beef fajitas are really good tho! The beef comes on a sizzling plate and is cooked to perfection. Very tasty! I love how they have unlimited chips and salsa! And queso! So good. The waiters keep them coming too. They literally don't stop bringing you chips and salsa, it's awesome! The only other things I've tried were the wet burrito and the enchiladas. They were decent to me. I go for authenticity when it comes to mexican food. Ted's has a bar area that me and my friends walked into once, but they told us we had to leave because not everyone was 21. That's fair. It looked like they had a full bar tho. I enjoy this place, but it wouldn't really be a go to spot for me.

Other than great service from Romeo, everything else was horrible! They said it would be about 55-60 minutes... It was over an hour and 20 minutes. The prices are way too steep for the amount of meat you get!! The dining room was also way too tiny!! I will never go back to this location. We wasted our entire evening, unfortunately!

the food was super good!!! only thing is I paid 12.99 a plate for chimichangas and you only get one!!! don't get me wrong the one chimichanga was delicious... just wish there would have been 2 like most places... and if you have a Togo order make sure you tell the Togo person... not a hostess or you will never get your food!! the hostess even offered to tell the Togo person I was there and to sit and it would be out shortly... after sitting there for 15 min I decided to go ask the Togo person myself!!! looking forward to sitting down and eating there next time!! like all new good restaurants... just know you will have to wait to be seated!!

Wow! I took my mom here for lunch and we were not disappointed. We got there just after 1pm and we were sat down right away. Then we were waited on by the most thorough and efficient waitress I have ever had. Her name was Christina. If that wasn't good enough everything we had to eat was perfect and hot. If you are looking for a great dining experience, I would recommend Ted's anytime. Remember to ask for Christina. Overall grade "A++". I'll definitely be back!

Delicious food and great service. Parking is plenty in the front since the establishment exists within a strip mall. I would recommend coming early to get a table or face waiting for a long period of time especially during your lunch hour. Once seated, you'll get the standard complimentary chips and salsa. Lunch menu has a variety of selections for any picky eaters. I recommend the chicken or beef barritto with rice and beans. Put a little salsa on top and it's awesome. There are constant servers refilling your drinks so you won't find your cup empty. I took a star away for the time period between when we ordered and were served our meal. We had a party of 5 and ordered off the lunch menu, but it took over 30 minutes. We noticed those who seated and ordered after us got served in 15 minutes. Nevertheless, the restaurant is clean, it had a friendly atmosphere, and the food is great. Try it out...you won't be disappointed on the taste of your food.

Great food and service! The salsa and chips never stopped coming. Margarita was very good as well.

This was my 2nd visit to Ted's. I decided to get the burrito off the kid's menu because I didn't feel like stuffing my face in. To my surprise, the kid's portion was perfect for me!! Also, it was much cheaper as well. I got the beef burrito with red sauce. That was pretty good, but I would prefer chicken and cheese sauce instead. Their Soapilla (sp?) was pretty good as well.

Friday night & I got lucky with no wait for the Cantina. Very attentive wait staff. Love the complimentary queso with my chips & salsa. Huge margarita! Food was delicious & portion size was large. I would consider this more Tex-Mex vs authentic Mexican, but it was good all the same. I will definitely go back.

I had a bad to-go experience from this location as well. I was originally going to order from the store on Western but found this new location on their website, which was more convenient since I was already on the NE side of the city heading on my way home in Moore. Also figured it would cut down on the travel time since it's slightly closer to my house in light traffic down Sooner then back west into Moore. I got there a few minutes before he said it would be ready. I checked in with the hostess, who said she'd let the to-go server know I was waiting. Finally I got the to-go server's attention after waiting for almost 30 minutes. All he did was apologize and say it shouldn't have happened. I guess tough luck on me but at least now I'll take my money to any number of Ted's competitors. It's a shame because I do like the food but this one experience was enough to turn me away. I didn't try to demand a discount or anything, but it would have been a nice gesture on his part to have gone to get the manager anyway. At least then maybe they would fix whatever the miscommunication is with to-go orders here.

Visited Teds on a Saturday night in late June. The atmosphere was great and the food was awesome. The unlimited chips, cheese, salsa and tortilla shells was a great way to start the meal, my date and I shared a taco plate as the portions are pretty big. The service was excellent and prompt, food was delivered in the average time expected at a Mexican Style restaurant. The only bad part of the experience was the Margaritas. My date and I both had the Grande Margarita. The margarita was way to strong, which would be that much of a problem, except the mix they used was way way on the salty side and tasted cheap. For $9.99 a drink make sure you try it before you buy it...

I had a great lunch for a very reasonable price. Great tray of starter chips with flour tortillas and 4 toppers ( 2 salsas plus queso and pickled jalapeno/carrrot combo). I was seated at the bar since I was eating solo and I watched a worker grilling the fresh flour tortillas on a flat top (they were super-hot when served). The place was busy at lunch time but I never felt neglected with my iced-tea getting topped off by my server, not the bartender whenever I got low. She even made me a to-go cup when I left. The spinach enchilada was fresh and tasty with sour cream sauce and I should have had two of them instead of just the one. The cheese enchilada was average so no points for that but beans and rice were solid. I have eaten at Ted's several times and at different locations and they are all consistently good so plus one star for that. I like this newly opened (April '14) location as do many others based on the crowd size at lunch!

You don't serve me enchilada sauce from a can on my enchiladas. Quality control was way down tonight. WAY DOWN! The service was awful tonight and I left no tip!

Wonderful atmosphere, the wait staff was great. Food arrived in a timely manner and tasted wonderfully. Half way through our meal, a towel landed between my uncle and I. After looking around we both glanced upwards and realized there was another towel on the ceiling. They were using it to prevent condensation from the ac vent from dripping. Now that one of the towels was gone. We were now getting tiny drops of water. At first I thought nothing of it and continued to eat. My wife said the water could be landing on our food. It wasn't dripping constantly, just every so often, enough for my two year old daughter to glance up and try to catch it as drips fell. I notified the wait staff and a manager was over by our table in less than a minute. After explaining what happened, she offered to give us another meal. I glanced at the rest of my family, there were 7 of us, and most everyone had finished their food. So we declined and just requested to have our food to go. The manager offer to move my uncle and I to another table, which I declined, I didn't want to sit at another table while my family sat at this one. The manager immediately apologized and said that our meal was on her. I thanked her. I was impressed with everything to include the resolution the manager offered. I highly recommend Ted's to all my friends. The food is wonderful and the customer service is stellar!

My wife and I ate here Friday. We both got the choose two lunch special: we both got Tortilla soup and crispy chicken taco. Delicious as always. 1 warning; when you get your crispy taco, eat it. If you wait more tan a few minutes, the underside of the shell will get soggy. Also, all you can handle chips, salsa, quest, homemade tortillas. Then sopapillas for desert. Never disappointed ! The Del City location staff is not quite as good as the other locations. Still a good experience.

Really impressed with Ted's. Incomparable service, great food, inviting atmosphere, it's got it all. The prices, I thought, were a little high. I think it cost me $13 for two enchiladas, which was a little steep for my taste. Ben was our server and he made us feel welcome and even got us a free order of nachos because it was our first time there. Ted's is a clean, modern and tasteful Mexican restaurant. I would recommend it to my friends.

By far the best Mexican place in Oklahoma. Service has always been fast and attentive. I usually get chicken fajitas and my husband loves fajita beef street tacos. If you aren't going with children - sit in the bar area - avoid the wait times.

Went to Ted's this week for lunch. The atomic salsa is made with green chilies and is very tasty. Chips were served with this salsa, regular salsa, and queso. The fresh tortillas are some of the best I've found in years. Since we were first time customers, the manager brought us a complimentary tamale, which was also very good. The service was good also. We will be eating at Ted's again

Was visiting family in OKC and headed over to Ted's for dinner. The best thing here? The warm, fresh, house-made tortillas they serve when you sit down! They also bring chips (not house-made, but okay tasting), queso, salsa, and a carrot and jalapeno relish. The salsa was okay (very mild), but if I go again, I'll pass on the queso. It's very bland. I had a margarita, which was tasty, and a beef and bean burrito smothered in tomatillo sauce. It came with beans and rice, and I ordered for it guacamole too. The burrito filling was good, and the tortilla was amaze-balls! That tomatillo sauce, though? Ick. Bitter, with no flavor of the poblano and jalapeno peppers it was supposed to be made of. Also, there were about 6 cheese shreds on the burrito. Really? This is a Mexican place -- get with the program and use some cheese, man! The rice was meh, as was the complimentary dessert sopapilla, but the guac was good. I'll likely go back next time I'm in OKC, but will stick to tacos or fajitas and the tortillas. Overall, this was just WAY too much food, and most of it was pretty mediocre. The good stuff was pretty tasty good though!

We had the tamales, spinach enchiladas, and Ted's Excellent ' Dilla and every meal was excellent- the best we've ever had and we've been to some awesome Mexican restaurants. The starter queso and salsa s they bring in individual serving sizes so you don't have to worry about "double dipping" are good and fresh. The sopapilla's at the end were the perfect end to a perfect meal.

We really enjoyed this place. You get free chips, salsa, queso and fresh tortillas, mmm!! Everyone got their own cups of all the dips, and the chips were fresh out of the fryer. I got a lunch special with bean nachos and a cheese enchilada. The bean nachos were a pleasant surprise because they were served Texas-style (without a jalapeño), meaning that each chip was spread with beans and covered with cheese, instead of being a wily-nily pile of chips and toppings. Thank you for the extra effort, Ted's!! My combo came with rice and beans, and they were both excellent. My only complaint was that the restaurant was way too cold, which made my rugrats miserable and whiny, and meant we left without any sopapillas.

Teds has delicious American-ized mexican. Everything on the menu is delicious and well prepared. The meats/chickens were tender and cooked perfectly. The portions are large and the chips are amazing!

Let us not forget...this is NOT Mexican food. This is Tex-Mex. If you don't know the difference then I suggest you hit up some real Mexican taquerias on the south side of OKC. That said the food is actually fairly decent, considering. The rice can be dry, and the refried beans are way too mashed up into a liquid-like substance that is not necessary (chunks of beans necessary here). My own Mexican rice and beans are way better, but I do not run a restaurant, just a happy place for my family to eat realistic Mexican food. Right away Ted's looses a star since the tortillas, corn or flour, were sitting at another table for half an hour before they put them on top of 3 they bring you in containers. Of course they are cold and eerily crispy. Quit doing that Ted! It's bad for business. I have a cousin in the food service industry that tells me all the ins and outs, and refuses to work in a Texican restaurant. The chips are fresh, but the queso and basic salsa are bland. If you really want to kick it up order the two hottest sauces they have - the habanero and the other nice hot salsa. I'm pretty much done with this review. The entrees go from fairly good to okay. You pay top price for decent stuff and lots of extras, but they might as well hire chinese people to cook this stuff, because it's not much better than Mexicans preparing chinese food...there is just NO love at all. Short story shorter - great place to bloat yourself for $15 per person - bad place to spend $15 per person. Next time I'll treat the whole fam to Burger King. It won't break the bank, but it won't break my faith in humanity as much, either... P.S. 3 stars for service, otherwise 2 1/2 at best.

I had the Best Mexican Tacos and they are far from the best. Four tacos with rice and beans. 14 bucks. Four tortillas piled right on top of each other and all the meat on top of that. But it was not four tacos worth of meat - maybe two. So you get to assemble these yourself and you realize you are skimping on the meat and guacamole so each tortilla can have a little of each. My dad owned a Mexican restaurant. What do things cost? Four tortillas - 8 cents, rice and beans - 20 cents, one fourth an avocado- 30 cents. Meat - maybe two dollars if it's a really good cut. Theirs is not a good cut, but the marinade is very good so it softens it and it does taste good- I'd say they spend 80 cents. So for a 1.38 cents they charge you 14 dollars. Btw, the rice is the worst I've had in years.

The service is amazing here. They are on point and super attentive. They have lots of free salsas and cheese dip. The food is ok. Not really bad food but definitely not great. I had the slow marinade steak enchiladas with rice and beans. It was ok. The tortillas are handmade and the super spicy salsa are pretty good. If you are with a big group, it would probably be great for service. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit.

Called two hours ahead to make reservations for a group of 45. Was assured there would be no problem. Group arrives and is told there is a one hour wait. This should have been explained on the phone. We are in OKC from out of state. Very disappointed. Love Ted's food but this was unacceptable. Our group had to walk to a nearby Hardee's to eat. Very disappointed.

Corporate Executives are deciding the Menu items now The first decision that they decide to make is, wait for it... "Let's remove the Taco Plate" Ted's Cafe Escondido - wow, how much I have loved this place over the years. They have always focused on excellence and made it clear with service and offering a comment card at the end of each meal. The consistency of the food and the flavor coupled with an award winning setup right whenever you sit down has made them the industry leader. They can move into town and cause other Tex Mex restaurants to go out of business overnight. So, just like every majorly successful business, they start to grow. We start seeing more and more locations being built, even expanding across the state lines. And, just like any business they need people to manage this growth. This is where the trouble begins - because you have to look outside the company in order to find upper management with the appropriate experience of running a larger business. Many times, these executive types are far removed from the day-to-day business - focusing less upon customer satisfaction and more on simplifying business processes that will increase the profit margin. This is a problem. Case in point - somebody on the Corporate side of the house has made a profoundly incompetent decision to remove the Taco Plate off of the menu, and replace it with a more business efficient "Pick Two" for $12.99. This is a prime example of Corporate Executive decision making where efficiency overlooks the obvious. Why would "any" Tex Mex restaurant decide to remove the Taco Plate off of the menu? And, start charging a "premium" for 2 tacos with rice and beans? This did not help the customer at all. Not only did they remove one of "the" most popular mexican food items from the menu. But, they also decided to make it unaffordable for the people that helped them grow. I'm looking to see even more worse decisions coming down from the top for the sake of profit and efficiency by corporate executives who will no doubt be awarding themselves with raises & bonuses for making blind mistakes. Ted's has officially forgotten what made them great, and turned into a corporate machine. As a customer, I am extremely offended by this. I'm done with Ted's forever. P.S. - A message for any GM or Marketing Executive person who wants to discuss "this matter", I've already discussed with 2 of the onsite Managers who clearly indicated they do not have "any" say on price or menu item AND further indicated they both are "not" capable of discussing such matters with anyone above them (wow). So, please save the empty remarks. P.S.S. - Let me be clear - the only contact that I would be interested from Ted's would be from another rational human being (like myself) who believes that 1) removing a Taco Plate from the menu is stupid and 2) charging $12.99 for 2 tacos with rice and beans (on the weekend) is even more stupid. The person who made this decision should be fired immediately. God Bless the onsite Managers who could not help.

lunch order was super fast. I didn't have time to eat my chips and dip. lol. thats a good thing. The mango frozen margaritas are really refreshingly good. I loved the chicken tacos. The complimentary tortillas had a little grilled char on them. very good. The chips were hot and fresh! Only problem is your server at the bar will forget about you.

Del City Oklahoma Ted's Cafe Escondido Sucks ... There food is too salty and the rice was hard and dry ... I told the owner David Foxx about the problem and he promised me that he would send out a comp letter he never did ... They are on facebook and when I wrote about my experience they deleted it ... I will never go back to this mexican mcdonalds ...

Good Mexican food; I had the lunch special (choose 2 + rice + beans.) I got two tacos, ground beef and shredded beef. It was yummy, both meats were well cooked. The rice is good; I'm not really a fan of their beans since they aren't black and all mushy. The iced tea (unsweetened) was good too, with constant refills and a to-go cup. Service was good for a busy lunch hour. Good stop for lunch or dinner, but it can get very busy, and they don't take reservations.

Handmade flour tortillas as an appetizer but packaged bulk flour tortillas for the soft chicken taco I ordered??? Other than that the flavor was tasty and almost as authentic as my San Antonio style tex-mex.... I would have rated this place as a 4-star if it hadn't been for that packaged flour tortilla used! Btw.... Romeo's service was great!

Stopped in on a Friday two weeks back, first time visit. Food was excellent for both myself and my traveling companion. Having experienced the other locations a handful of times I had a good idea what to expect. Biggest downside to this location is the main seating hall. Completely open, no dividers, I felt like I was back in my junior high cafeteria, bumping elbows with every other bum trying to get a bite before rushing back to work. Loud, busy, but food was still very good. We'll definitely be back again, though I'll be interested in tying a booth somewhere near the perimeter.

I have faith this location will improve to a 5 star in time. My only complaint isn't about the food....its top! Over the top. I meet my friends about once every other month here to eat and enjoy sometime together. They drive about 45 minutes for our visit the last time we were there 35 minutes and they were trying to clear the table and bring the check. We weren't close to being through eating. Rush rush rush, no line out in the lobby and 6 empty tables on our side. I always leave more than 25% tip to cover the extra 10-15 minutes we sit to visit. My friend also reported this to the manager as she removed the chips and sauces...we were still eating. We will go back but adjust the time we go so it won't be so close to evening meals and reassess to see if this is routine or just during peak hours. If it's during peak hours I've often left a $20.00 tip for my portion. The time before a female wait staff entered the bathroom used the facility with her apron on and this is against Health Dept regulations. Same night out waiter repeatedly went to the alcove and was on his phone arguing while we waited for our dinner when he got off the phone and brought our food clearly it had been ready for a bit. My taco was mush on the bottom and my friends chimichanga was cold and we all know this is not Ted's normal....as I said the food was great just needing some time to get adjusted, dust the new off and adhere to policies. All in all, it's good and we will be back next week, however we plan on calling ahead and asking what time suits them best as we would like 45 minutes to an hour so we can visit. We even requested a manager to call us on the satisfaction survey and no response. I'm quite sure they don't have very many people who request to speak with a manager. It would take very little time to do a follow thru. If they had...my review would probably reflect a different response.

Excellent. Homemade everything! Tamale. Enchiladas. Salsa. Sopapias. It's all great as well as the service. First timers get free guac and sopapia for dessert. You can eat it all. Great atmosphere as well. Don't miss this place if your passing thru. Escondido especial.

I've never seen a wait staff work this hard and the food was over the top. We're from California and the tamales, enchiladas and chili verde were excellent!!!

We always have great service and great food at Teds. The portions are very generous and prices are reasonable. They provide free chips, cheese, salsa, tortillas and sopapillas. There's almost always a wait for the normal dining room but, hardly ever a wait in the bar area. If you don't have kids with you I would suggest sitting at the bar. Teds is our favorite Mexican restaurant in OKC.

Favorite mexican restaurant. Never have had bad service at any location. Usually get the fajitas or tacos. Both are amazing. Waiters and waitress are always friendly and very fast service.

If you come here during normal dining hours prepare to wait, and wait. Smaller than the original and for some reason the recipes didn't get brought over, food is simply not as good. The waitress took 30 mins to get our order, by that time I was already full on chips and salsa. This was my 3rd and last time, will now either drive cross town or simply go to Las vacaros.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
